Batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi delivered a masterclass
in aggressive strokeplay, blasting a sensational 18-ball half-century against
Zimbabwe in the first T20I at the Harare Sports Club. The young left-hander
turned what could have been a tricky run-chase into a thrilling, one-sided
spectacle.

Chasing a target of 126, India faced an early setback with
the cheap loss of opener Abhishek Sharma. Unfazed by the pressure, Sooryavanshi
took control of the innings with fearless intent from his very first delivery.
Exhibiting extraordinary timing and authority, he immediately took on
Zimbabwe’s pace battery, sending message after message across the boundary
ropes.
His innings was a dazzling display of modern T20 batting.
Sooryavanshi repeatedly punished both full and short deliveries, dismantling
the bowling attack with four crisp boundaries and four towering sixes. Reaching
his fifty in just 18 deliveries, he set a record for the fastest T20I
half-century by an Indian teenager, leaving the Harare crowd in absolute awe.
This milestone carries extra weight after a difficult debut
series in England, where Sooryavanshi struggled to find his rhythm and failed
to make a mark with the bat. Bouncing back in style, this knock marked his
maiden international half-century, silencing critics and demonstrating
remarkable resilience for a youngster operating at the highest level.
The sheer velocity of Sooryavanshi’s knock completely broke the back of the chase, bringing the required run rate down to a mere formality before he was finally dismissed. His explosive assault laid the perfect foundation for captain Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan to guide India home to a comfortable seven-wicket victory with over six overs to spare.
