The match began with Australia opting to bat first on a pitch offering generous early assistance to the seamers. Bangladesh's pace attack capitalized brilliantly, with Hasan Mahmud taking 6 for 55 to dismantle the Aussie batting order and skittle the hosts for a modest 198.

However, a 5 for 66 spell from the Bangladeshi spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz restricted Australia to just 284, setting Bangladesh a target of just 57 runs in the 4th innings.
Chasing this small target, the top order stayed calm under
pressure to comfortably reach 57 for 1, securing a momentous victory and taking
a 1-0 lead in this 2-match series. Josh Hazlewood picked up the lone wicket to fall in this Bangladesh innings, dismissed Tanzid Hasan for a 5-ball Duck.
The action now shifts to the second Test which on 22nd August in MacKay, where Australia will probably look to bounce back and avoid a series defeat, while Bangladesh aims to complete a series victory in Australia.
