Stadium in Guyana. After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, the hosts
put on a disciplined bowling display to restrict the Black Caps before their
batters anchored a measured pursuit of the target. This victory gives the West
Indies a 1-0 lead in the 5-match ODI series.

First Innings: New Zealand's Collapse
Choosing to bat first, New Zealand built a solid foundation
and looked poised for a massive total, sitting comfortably at 216/4 at one
stage. Daryl Mitchell top-scored with a resilient 65 off 73 balls, while opener
Will Young contributed a steady 49. However, the West Indies bowling attack
sparked a dramatic collapse late in the innings. Led by Alzarri Joseph's
brilliant 4/41 and Vitel Lawes' 3/54, the hosts ripped through the lower order,
taking New Zealand's final six wickets for a mere 33 runs and bowling them out
for 267 in 49.5 overs.
Second Innings: The West Indies Chase
The West Indies chase was defined by composure and a
match-winning third-wicket partnership. Keacy Carty anchored the innings
beautifully, scoring a brilliant 95 off 112 balls to earn Player of the Match
honors. He was spectacularly supported by captain Shai Hope, who remained
unbeaten on 87 off 92 balls. Together, the duo put on a 131-run stand that
effectively took the game away from the visitors, allowing the West Indies to
cruise to 268/3 in 48.5 overs and secure a comfortable victory.
