Indian express pacer Mayank Yadav made a thunderous return
to international cricket, setting the tone for India in the 1st T20I against
Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club. Known for his blistering pace, Mayank
wasted no time proving why he remains one of the most lethal fast-bowling
prospects in the world.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, captain Shreyas
Iyer handed the new ball to Mayank. Charging in with intent, Mayank produced an
absolute ripple on the very first delivery of the match. Delivering a 149 km/h
back-of-a-length thunderbolt that seamed away slightly, he forced Zimbabwean
opener Brian Bennett into an awkward defend, nicking it behind to wicketkeeper
Ishan Kishan. A successful Decision Review System (DRS) call confirmed the
edge, sending Bennett back for a golden duck and giving India the ultimate
start.
With that early breakthrough, Mayank joined an elite list as only the third Indian bowler after Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya to snatch a wicket off the first ball of a T20I match. It also marked the second time in his nascent international career that he achieved a first-ball strike.
Mayank maintained relentless control throughout his spell, unsettling the Zimbabwean top order with sharp bounce, steely discipline, and relentless high speeds. He finished his four overs with stellar figures of 2/18 at an economical rate of 4.50. His opening salvo not only put Zimbabwe on the back foot early but also emphatically announced his comeback to the national side.
