Devdutt Padikkal continued his sensational run in
international red-ball cricket by scoring his second consecutive Test century
in as many games during India's tour of Sri Lanka.

Playing at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo, the left-hander anchored the Indian innings with a disciplined 117 off 193 balls (including 12 fours) on the opening day of the second Test. Walking in at number three with India wobbling at 66 for 2, Padikkal rode early luck—surviving drops on nought and one—before firmly taking control of the match.
He shared a vital 120-run partnership for the third wicket with captain Shubman Gill (who contributed 50) to rescue the innings from early trouble. This latest masterclass follows his brilliant 167 in the opening Test at Galle, cementing his place at number three and taking his tally in the series to 328 runs at an imposing average of 109.33.
