The appointment marks a homecoming for "Tendo," whose ties with the franchise span over a decade. Ten Doeschate represented Kolkata Knight Riders as a reliable all-rounder from 2011 to 2015, playing a key part in their IPL title-winning runs in 2012 and 2014. He later joined KKR's coaching staff in 2022 as a fielding coach, contributing to their third IPL triumph in 2024 before transitioning to international duty alongside head coach Gautam Gambhir.
In his expanded mandate, Ten Doeschate will oversee squad
planning, player recruitment, talent identification, and performance evaluation
across the entire global Knight Riders ecosystem. His goal will be establishing
a cohesive cricketing strategy and philosophy for franchises in the IPL,
Caribbean Premier League (Trinbago Knight Riders), International League T20
(Abu Dhabi Knight Riders), and Major League Cricket (Los Angeles Knight
Riders). Beyond his overarching strategic role, he will also serve as an assistant
coach for the franchise's overseas teams in the CPL, ILT20, and MLC.
Knight Riders Sports CEO Venky Mysore welcomed the signing, highlighting Ten Doeschate's deep alignment with the franchise's ethos. With his extensive experience across international and franchise circuits, Ten Doeschate’s return signals a clear commitment to long-term talent development and global dominance across all T20 leagues.
