a reinforced Indian men's cricket team walks out at Edgbaston today determined
to hit the reset button. The opening clash of the three-match ODI series marks
the highly anticipated return of India's veteran heavyweights, bringing
much-needed experience and balance back to the squad.

While Shubman Gill continues to marshal the side as captain,
the top order gets an astronomical boost with the return of Rohit Sharma and
Virat Kohli. Sharma will resume his traditional role at the top alongside Gill,
while Kohli occupies his customary number three spot. The middle-order looks
formidable and incredibly settled with the presence of Shreyas Iyer and
wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul, both of whom have been exceptional anchors for
India in the 50-over format.
Strategic Depth and Bowling Firepower
The management has opted for versatility in the lower-middle
order. Shivam Dube slots in to provide an aggressive seam-bowling all-rounder
presence, filling a vital slot in the absence of injured regulars. He is
partnered by Washington Sundar and the dependable Axar Patel, giving India
immense spin-bowling depth and extending the batting lineup down to number
eight.
The headline of the team sheet, however, belongs to the
bowling department. Modern-day great Jasprit Bumrah makes his much-awaited
return to ODI cricket, spearheading the pace attack alongside Prasidh Krishna.
To add a fresh dynamic to English conditions, India has handed a debut to young
quick Gurnoor Brar, completing a potent three-pronged fast-bowling unit.
