The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has
officially announced a fresh, 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I
series against Zimbabwe. Scheduled entirely at the Harare Sports Club from July
23 to July 26, 2026, the short tour represents a major youth transition for the
national side. Shreyas Iyer has been named captain of the squad, with young
batting star Tilak Varma serving as his deputy.

The squad features several notable inclusions and
reward-based selections from domestic circuits. Wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran
Singh, alongside pace bowlers Ashok Sharma and Yash Thakur, have earned their
maiden international call-ups. Additionally, 15-year-old batting prodigy
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi retains his spot in the setup after making waves during
his recent international debut. Regular heavyweights like Ishan Kishan, Rinku
Singh, and explosive opener Abhishek Sharma form the core of the batting unit,
while Varun Chakaravarathy and Mayank Yadav bolster the bowling department.
Surprisingly, keeper-batter Sanju Samson has been left out of the traveling
party.
With the core senior group unavailable, this upcoming assignment offers an invaluable proving ground for India’s next generation of short-format cricketers to stake a permanent claim in the national side.
The three-match series will follow a packed schedule in Harare. The first T20I is scheduled for Thursday, July 23, followed immediately by the second match on Saturday, July 25. The tour will conclude with the third and final T20I on Sunday, July 26, with all matches set to commence at 4:30 PM IST.
