Shubman Gill will lead the national side as captain, with senior batter KL Rahul named as his deputy. The selection reflects a strategy aimed at combining experienced core leaders with exciting domestic talent for subcontinental conditions.

A major highlight is the return of veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to the Test fold. He spearheads a potent spin department alongside wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, and off-spinner Saransh Jain, who earned his maiden India call-up. The top order is reinforced by Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal, and Sai Sudharsan, while Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel serve as the two wicketkeeping options.

India’s fast-bowling unit features Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and uncapped pacer Gurnoor Brar. However, the inclusion of both Bumrah and Sudharsan is subject to final fitness clearance from the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). All-rounder Washington Sundar was unavailable for selection for the opening fixture.
